08 Oct Why Autumn is the Ideal Time for Lasers
It might feel like summer year-round in California, but for most of us the season of sunburns is gone—and you know what that means! Laser skin rejuvenation at RefinedMD. You can get laser treatment year-round, but there are some exceptions for opting for this treatment and having a sunburn is one of them. Those with current sunburns are not candidates for laser skin resurfacing, but with autumn in full swing now is the time to put together your laser resurfacing regimen.
At RefinedMD, we’re proud to offer all of the best lasers for our clients including Moxi, Clear + Brilliant, BBL, Halo, Ultherapy, Thermage FLX, and many more. As a laser specialist, we have over 20 lasers on site because we’re committed to providing individualized results. Every laser is different so that every skin condition can be treated. Plus, we have lasers that can treat every skin tone and type. Those with more melanin can rest easy knowing that there’s no risk of hypopigmentation.
What Lasers Treat
Lasers can treat virtually every common skin concern including laxity, acne and acne scarring, lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and help with chronic conditions like rosacea. Whether you want a light touch for pre-juvenation to delay the signs of aging (Clear + Brilliant is a great bet!) or a more aggressive laser to seriously turn back the clock, we have the right laser or combination of lasers for you.
That’s right—it’s often best to mix and match lasers to optimize results. Gentler lasers like Moxi and BBL can often be used during the same appointment so you don’t have to book multiple sessions just to get the results you deserve. Light-based devices (like BBL) and “real” lasers can work wonderfully together to achieve your goals of looking younger, healthier, and happier.
Pre- and Post- Laser Care
There’s not much you have to do prior to a laser treatment to get ready. Avoiding the sun so that you don’t have a sunburn is a big one. You may also need to stop certain topical medications under the guidance of your dermatologist or doctor. However, in most cases, there’s no prep work to get ready for your appointment. And even better? Many of today’s lasers are powerful yet gentle enough so there’s little to no downtime.
When you are planning your post-laser care, keep in mind that it’s still important to avoid the sun as best you can. After laser skin resurfacing, your skin is “new” and especially vulnerable to UV damage. Wait a little bit for that tropical getaway and re-commit to daily sunscreen as well as wide-brimmed hats for extra protection. A little TLC goes a long way in the first 7 – 14 days after your laser treatment. There are also medical-grade post-laser topicals that can help soothe the skin.
Which Laser is for You?
You’re one of a kind and your laser regimen should be the same. What works best for you might not be the right solution for someone else. Plus, your skin and its needs change throughout the seasons. Now that autumn is in the air, you might be struggling with seasonal changes like dry skin, acne breakouts, or new hyperpigmentation from summertime sun damage.
Our laser experts work with you to hand-select the right laser(s) for your skin right now. In many cases, a single treatment is all you need for gorgeous results. Other times, a series of sessions might be in order and autumn/winter is the best time to do this. There’s less sunlight, less risk of sunburns, and you can easily fit post-laser recovery into your daily life.
