Dr. Roy was born in Rome, Italy. As the son of a United Nations diplomat, Dr. Roy completed his early education in Italy, which created the foundation for offering a multi-lingual practice. Fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, Hindi, and Bengali, his multi-lingual capabilities are a wonderful complement to his “bench-to-bedside” translational medical research background.
After completing his undergraduate Stanford degree, he was immediately recruited by the university’s Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging, an NIH and National Institute for Aging-funded research laboratory. This resulted in a renowned paper that addressed the results of aging and muscle stem cell regeneration, which was published in Science and kick-started Dr. Roy’s prolific author career.
Dr. Roy continued his academic success by graduating top of his class at New York Medical College, where he was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honors society. His post-doctorate training includes a five-year surgical training in Otolaryngology (head and neck) surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, which is ranked as one of the top ten hospitals for this specialty by US News & World Report.
Restoring form, function, and aaesthetics to patients of all ages via facial plastic and reconstructive surgery is a calling for Dr. Roy. The incredible boost of confidence and quality of life in patients who undergo otoplasty (ear-pinning surgery), facelifts, and rhinoplasty led Dr. Roy to continue advancing his expertise by completing a fellowship through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This highly competitive fellowship is awarded to only 45 surgeons each year.
Dr. Roy finds incredible joy in helping his patients achieve their facial reconstructive and surgery goals. His other passion is music. Dr. Roy was classically trained as a singer in Italy, and was a soloist and lead tenor in Stanford’s oldest and most established acappella group, The Stanford Mendicants, as well as Stanford Raagapella, a South-Asian fusion group he founded at the University. This accomplished “singing surgeon’s” albums “Mendication” (The Stanford Mendicants) and “Raags to Riches” (Stanford Raagapella) can be found on iTunes and Spotify. Today, he can still be found occasionally singing at weddings and for friends and family. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife, who is also a physician, and three boys.
