01 Jul Halo Laser Skin Rejuvenation is Here!
RefinedMD is proud to be one of the first offices in the Bay Area to offer the world’s first hybrid laser technology developed to treat pigmentation, fine lines, coarseness, and pore size all in one sitting without the usual downtime associated with such treatments. Remember Fraxel? The system that required multiple passes, multiple treatments, hurt quite a bit, caused a lot of swelling and didn’t do that much? Well, this system has solved those issues, uses wavelength technology that better addresses pigmentation and gives you the textural changes you want in only one or two treatments.
We can now address multiple issues in the same session with a single hybrid laser. If it is texture, pore size, fine lines, and pigmentation, the Halo System is waiting for you! Over time, our skin loses its youthful glow based on age, skin type, sun exposure/sun protection. The process becomes cumulative and is both superficial and deep in the skin. Up until Halo came to the market, we were not able to address issues on separate levels. Now we can!
Halo is able to treat both superficial and deep proving dermal rejuvenation and epidermal renewal for a combined synergistic effect that only occurs with Halo. Great results with minimal downtime! Halo allows us to assess your skin type, your skin needs and dial in the correct settings for both laser systems, giving you customized treatments for your skin’s needs. We can dial in more superficial treatments focused more on pigment and mild textural issues with recovery in a day or two, or go more deeply and aggressively to give you a more noticeable improvement in texture, fine lines and tone, but with a few more days of downtime.
WHAT SKIN CONDITIONS DOES HALO TREAT? Halo helps address virtually every skin condition except for redness: Discoloration, sun damage, visible signs of aging, uneven skin tones, enlarged pores and texture. Even fine lines can be addressed, but only with maximal full face resurfacing settings.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS: Many people are happy with just one treatment. In most cases a couple treatments offer longer-term results. Many offices suggest at least one annual treatment to maintain results.
HOW DOES IT FEEL: Prior to your first treatment photographs with the new VISA CAMERA will be taken to assess your current status. Topical anesthetics need to be applied at least a half hour before the treatment begins. We often will send you home with a small amount of topical anesthetic to get the process started. Most patients describe the treatment as a sensation of heat and a prickling sensation. The most common statement is the pain is a 2 or 3 out of 10. After treatment, your skin will feel warm for 20 minutes to an hour depending on the depth of treatment. Cold air and ice compresses will help. Once the skin ‘seals’ itself, the warm sensation stops.
HOW SOON CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES? Plan on laying low for the first 24 hours. During that period we want you to clean your skin with cool water and apply the topical emulsion supplied. After that you can return to normal activities. Moisturizers, makeups and sunscreens can be restarted after 2 hours. Do no use Retin A or exfoliating products for at least a week.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS? You will experience a ‘branny’ exfoliation starting in 2-5 days. Sometimes at a week you will see a second mild exfoliation. Pigment improvement is visible in 2-3 weeks and the dermal rejuvenation occurs over a period of several months.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT LAST? Results can last a year or more, particularly in those patients who are using active skin care products at home, undergoing other skin supportive treatments and of course, minimizing sun exposure damage to their skin. Additional treatments will only add to that ongoing Halo Glow.
WHAT COMMENTS HAVE YOU RECEIVED FROM PATIENTS? All to date have been amazingly positive and spontaneous. They all comment on how easy it was, how the discomfort was minimal, the recovery fast and the return of their skin to a more youthful glow with finer texture, pore size and even skin tones. Our office has received spontaneous phone calls describing how thrilled they are and the positive comments they hear from friends and family. Dr. Steven Swengel has personally done one and feels this is one of his newest and most refined laser offerings. He has treated several patients who are fellow Bay Club members with him and states he gets the thumbs up/high five comments from those who have been treated.
