Medical Insurance

It’s important to know RefinedMD is an out-of-network clinic which means our providers do not have a contract with any health insurance plans. However, RefinedMD welcomes medical and dermatology patients.

A “superbill” and a payment receipt will be provided following your appointment, with which you can seek possible reimbursement from your insurance provider. If your health insurance plan can provide full or partial reimbursement for your visit, the reimbursement payment will be mailed directly to you from your insurance provider. Some health plans, such as an HMO plan, will not cover care from out-of-network clinics except in an emergency. As such, it’s important to understand your benefits may be reduced, and you should check with your insurance company for additional information. Please understand that payment is expected to be paid in full at the time of your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an out of network clinic?

RefinedMD is an out-of-network provider. A doctor or physician does not have a contract with your health insurance plan. Your benefits and coverage may be reduced. Some health plans, such as an HMO plan, will not cover care from self-pay clinics at all, except in an emergency.

Is payment due at the time of service?

You will be responsible for making payment in full at the time of service at RefinedMD. Many insurance companies will allow you to submit a bill for reimbursement, and we encourage you to check with your insurance company on their particular policies. We will, of course, still be able to see you as an out of network clinic. You’ll simply pay for the cost of your visit at the time of service. Please call the number on the back of your card to verify coverage.

Can you bill insurance?

We are an out of network clinic and we do not bill insurance, however, many insurance companies will reimburse you if you submit the bill. If your health insurance plan is able to provide full or partial reimbursement for your visit, the reimbursement payment will be mailed directly to you from your insurance carrier. Additionally, patients are responsible for all unmet deductibles, applicable co-payments, coinsurances, and all office fees at the time of their visit. Any and all outstanding patient balances are due upon receipt or the next visit.

Cosmetic and Aesthetic Services

When opting for cosmetic treatments such as Botox, Dermal Fillers, Microneedling and more, payment is due for all cosmetic procedure fees at the time of your visit. This includes procedures deemed cosmetic by the provider, including but not limited to, removal of skin tags, removal of benign moles, and removal of keratosis or seborrheic keratosis. All laser procedures are considered cosmetic unless the provider specifies otherwise. If you subsequently file a claim with your insurance for a cosmetic procedure and your insurance erroneously covers the procedure, you are not entitled to reimbursement by our office, and we are obligated to notify your insurance carrier of their error.

Full payment for all non-medically necessary services and medical services are due at the time of your visit. We accept American Express, Visa, Master Card, Personal Checks, Cash, Alphaeon Credit, and Care Credit. Refined Gift Cards are also available.
