J-Plasma as a Facelift Alternative

If you’ve been thinking about a facelift but would prefer to avoid or delay surgery, what if there was a solution that offered real results? It’s possible with J-Plasma, a procedure you should only pursue when working exclusively with a leading plastic surgeon like Dr. Sudeep Roy at RefinedMD.

A facelift is a serious cosmetic surgery that comes with an expected recovery period that can last for weeks. Plus, moderate bruising and swelling is common. It’s simply not feasible for some people to take enough time off to properly recover from a facelift. This can be disheartening, especially when you’ve been hyper-aware of your face in recent months with endless Zoom calls.

For younger patients, you might not be a great candidate for a facelift. Why opt for an unnecessary surgery when you can get the same results as a facelift with a much less invasive procedure? J-Plasma might be for you. Not every cosmetic surgeon offers this treatment, but it’s available with Dr. Roy and you can check out the gallery now. This is a relatively new procedure, but RefinedMD is committed to always providing patients with the best and safest solutions for all of your skin care goals.

What is J-Plasma?

J-Plasma takes cold plasma energy to the underside of your skin to immediately tighten and rejuvenate—you can use it anywhere, including on the face and body. It’s considered a minimally invasive procedure and is a popular alternative to a facelift for some patients. J-Plasma works by actually shrinking lax skin, but there’s no large incisions or serious downtime. It’s no surprise, then, that this has quickly become one of the most requested procedures!

The results are completely natural looking, and J-Plasma is the only cold plasma energy treatment to provide instant restriction. Get improved skin elasticity right away and say goodbye to that crepe-like skin appearance. But what exactly is plasma energy?

It’s created when helium gas gets energized via radiofrequency energy. It can then be harnessed and delivered with the J-Plasma device. Helium gas is known for its stability, plus it gets ionized as an extremely low energy. This makes it flexible, safe, and precise. Plus, cold plasma is much cooler than laser or light energy, so it’s a safer treatment with fewer risks compared to other technologies like some lasers, radiofrequency, or ultrasound. Even if you do opt for one of these non-invasive options, such as lasers, you also won’t get the same level of results as you do with J-Plasma. Remember, J-Plasma is a common alternative to a facelift, which gives you an idea of just how aggressive it can be—but with little recovery time.

A J-Plasma Treatment

J-Plasma is a treatment that’s offered in-office and that requires local anesthesia. Typically for J-Plasma to the face, three very small hidden incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin. These are the same sites as a facelift, but the incisions are even smaller. Next, the J-Plasma device is inserted under the skin and the cold plasma is delivered. Skin tightens and shrinks right away, revitalizing the skin from the inside. Even better, results will continue to improve in the days and weeks following treatment.

The treatment takes about one hour and it’s common to experience tightness right after your J-Plasma treatment. A facial compression is required for 72 hours post-treatment, and mild bruising and swelling can occur for 1 – 2 weeks. In most cases, full activities can be resumed 3 – 5 days after J-Plasma.

This treatment is ideally for people in their 30s on average and is a good option for those with sagging in the jawline, neck, jowls, and lower face. For those with more severe sagging, a facelift might be more appropriate. In many cases, younger patients or those blessed with great elasticity can use the J-Plasma treatment to delay a facelift for several years. There’s no need to wait until the sagging is so severe that you qualify for a facelift. Enjoy more youthful and tauter skin right now with this facelift alternative.
