01 Jul Featured Treatment: KYBELLA™
Finally, a real solution for your Double Chin.
What is KYBELLA™?
KYBELLA™ is an FDA approved non-surgical treatment to correct, improve, and contour submental fullness or what is known as double chin.
About KYBELLA™
Before now, one of the only ways to address fullness in the neck, known as a double chin, was liposuction or surgery. KYBELLA™ has been in the making for 10 years and is a winner. Now, there is a non-surgical means to correct this problem area. It is KYBELLA™.
How does it work?
Studied, tested, and effective, KYBELLA ™uses the active ingredient deoxycholic acid. It is a natural occurring molecule found in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once broken down, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Is KYBELLA™ for you?
Over 68% of people said they are bothered by submental fullness or double chin according to a 2014 America Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Like many people, no matter how much you exercise the condition may not go away making you look older and heavier than you actually are.
KYBELLA™ might be right for you if
- You’re bothered by submental fullness or double chin
- Surgery is not an option
- You feel you look older and heavier than you actually are
- You eat well and exercise but submental fullness does not go away.
How does the KYBELLA™ treatment work?
KYBELLA™ is a quick 10-15 minute office treatment. Dr. Swengel will give you a series of injections into the fat under your chin at each treatment session.
You and Dr. Swerngel will customize a KYBELLA™ treatment plan based on your treatment goals and his expertise.
How many KYBELLA™ treatments do you need?
Many patients experience visible contouring of their chin profile in 2 to 4 treatments. Some people require up to 6 treatments in order to achieve results.
Once the chin profile has been improved, you do not need to be treated with KYBELLA™ again.
How long does KYBELLA™ last?
Once the proper correction is achieved, the treated fat cells are gone for good.
In most cases, no additional treatment is needed.
Who is the Best Candidate for KYBELLA™?
Improvement can be seen in virtually every person who has submental fullness. The ideal candidate is someone with moderate fullness and enough skin elasticity to recover after the fat disappears.
Is there downtime with KYBELLA™?
Downtime is minimal for most patients and occurs most commonly after the first treatment. When scheduling your treatment, keep your social plans and work commitments in mind. As with other injectable treatments, the most common side effects are Swelling, Bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
Does it hurt?
With the small amount of local anesthesia, the initial lipolytic reaction is pain-free.
There is mild to moderate swelling, possibly mild bruising to the injection site that resolves in a week. This does not limit your activities.
What to expect on your KYBELLA™ Treatment Day
KYBELLA™ is a non-surgical, 15-to-20 minute in-office procedure. Dr. Steven Swengel and his expert skin staff will apply ice/cold packs or topical and/or injectable anesthesia to the treatment area to make you more comfortable.
After treatment, you will apply an ice or cold pack to the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes.
Is KYBELLA™ Safe?
KYBELLA™ has been one of the most extensively studied new products to hit the cosmetic market. It has been 10 years in the making. Proper injection techniques and placement are the most important components of its safety profile. When these are adhered to, it is effective and safe.
