23 Feb Restylane vs. Perlane Fillers …. And More
Both Restylane and Perlane also use hyaluronic fillers, the most common type of dermal filler on the market—but there’s a reason why we only offer Restylane at RefinedMD. HA is an ingredient that occurs naturally in the body, but also lessens with age like collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid can reduce lines and wrinkles, shape and plump lips, and fill in hollowed areas of the face. There is no risk of rejecting hyaluronic acid since it is a naturally-occurring component in the body.
RESTYLANE & PERLANE: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
Restylane and Perlane are very similar, but Perlane is denser. Perlane is recommended for very deep injections that require more support at the lower levels of the skin. Most clients don’t need this (and often find that it is an intolerable procedure). It is sometimes dubbed a “base filler” and can be used as a foundation for less dense fillers like Restylane and Juvederm. The undereye area is one of the most common injection sites for Perlane, but placing filler in the undereye area can yield alien-looking results, which is why lasers and microneedling are more often recommended here. Both types of fillers result in skin that is smoother, which can help minimize scarring.
All hyaluronic fillers are administered using a quick injection directly into the treatment site. The injected gel bonds with the body’s water molecules, which means immediate results. However, any injection might have temporary side effects such as redness, swelling, slight pain, or bruising. These disappear shortly, and can be easily covered during the healing process.
VOLUMA XC
Voluma is the Juvederm product designed specifically to lift and contour the cheeks. “Fallen apples” are often one of the first signs of aging, along with undereye bags. However, many clients desire contoured cheeks not only to replace lost volume and look younger, but also to achieve the desirable high cheekbone look. Voluma XC can achieve what no amount of expert makeup contouring can and can last up to two years. It is considered a semi-permanent solution.
HOW VOLUMA XC WORKS
Voluma XC is a deeper injection. It is available for adults aged 21 or older and can instantly replace lost volume in the cheeks due to aging—or provide clients with the high cheekbones they’ve always wanted. “Midface volume loss” not only makes clients instantly look younger, but can also improve skin tone, texture, and laxity. Lack of cheek volume can also cause deep lines when smiling, making clients look even older than they are. Remove gauntness and look younger instantly with Voluma XC.
SCULPTRA
Sculptra can be used in a wide variety of facial sites, and is created to improve lost facial fat by nourishing collagen production. The most common injection sites are the cheeks. More collagen means more skin fullness, firmness, and youthfulness. Unlike other types of fillers, Sculptra can take up to six weeks to show full results because it does not inject a gel or other product into the body. Instead, it relies on stimulating collagen production for results. However, the results are subtle and genuinely natural. Most clients require multiple sessions every six weeks. The Sculptra ingredients include poly-L-lactic acid, which is safe and synthetic.
Why We Love Full Lips
There are many options for lip augmentation, and working with a skilled technician is a must to achieve the look you desire. We offer a wide range of injectables including some of the most popular brands like Juvederm, Restylane, and Sculptra. Every injectable is a little different, which is why understanding a client’s goals is key.
Bear in mind that most clients will experience minor swelling for the first 48-72 hours post-injection. This is normal but can be a surprise. It’s a good idea to avoid any major events or photo opportunities immediately after your injection. The lips will “settle” at the end of the first week.
Getting a Look You’ll Love
All injectables offered at our clinic are safe with minimal side effects. Fuller lips can help a person look younger and more confident. Larger, shapelier pouts are associated with higher levels of attraction in both men and women. As we age, we naturally lose volume in our face, and especially our lips and cheeks. Replacing this lost volume (or creating volume that was never there) can dramatically boost self-confidence.
