Spanish Doctor Says Ultherapy is a Leading Tool in Helping Men Look Younger

In recent years, there has been a huge uptick in the number of men seeking anti-aging procedures—that is true at both RefinedMD and around the world. According to one doctor in Spain, “In five years, guessing people’s ages will be very hard. We are all going to be 38.” He specializes in plastic surgery, but also offers non-invasive treatments (sound familiar)? According to him, so-called “age codes” are getting so blurry that soon we are all going to look “around 40” and, perhaps, the concept of age groups will disappear entirely. “We will always be young adults of ambiguous age.”

The doctor admits that he is “addicted” to hyaluronic acid, the most common ingredient in dermal fillers, as well as vitamin serums. He shares that he and his doctor friends recently analyzed Brad Pitt, who is turning 60 this year. “We put [his face] on a huge screen and paused it second by second,” he shares. “We looked at the cheekbones, the definition of the jaw, the hairline, the eyelids the texture of skin … we wanted to find out if he had been pricked and where.” While this sounds very exciting, ultimately nobody could agree. Some attributed Pitt’s never-aging looks to genetics (which is surely a factor) while some doctors said he hadn’t had surgery yet while others were sure Pitt gets growth hormone injections. Of course, collagen regenerators—such as Ultherapy—were agreed upon by many in attendance.

The Beauty of Treatments with No Tell-Tale Signs

Not too long ago, looking drastically younger than your age required surgery. Cosmetic surgery like a facelift is still a fantastic solution for many, and today’s facelifts don’t have the tell-tale signs of incisions behind the ears. However, for those who want to avoid surgery (at least for now) or maximize the results of a surgery, that’s going to require a customized blend of treatments. According to the doctor, Pitt gets “a little bit [of treatments] in many places.” This allows Pitts face to change gradually over time and fight off signs of aging. The doctor guesses Botox in the forehead and between the brows, but not so much to freeze the areas than to soften them. There is also the likelihood of dermal fillers in the cheekbones to help support an aging face and in the jawline to keep it defined.

It is also likely that Pitt might get Ultherapy, or perhaps its counterpart ThermageFLX, to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of the nasolabial fold (the line between the nose and mouth). Treatments to improve overall glow and texture of the skin are also likely, such as peels, facials like DiamondGlow, or microneedling. According to the doctor, 20 percent of his patients are now men and most of the men are relatively young—some are getting prejuvenation treatments. On this side of the world, it is estimated that men had 13 million procedures last year. Most treatments here are designed to increase masculinity, such as fillers in the chin, jaw, and cheekbones.

Why Go Non-Surgical?

According to a Spanish dermatologist,

Surgical facelifts are less and less requested; people are opting for non-invasive procedures such as Ultherapy, a technology that generates high-density focused ultrasound that penetrates up to 4.5 millimeters into the skin and improves the loose skin of the neck. It is very successful because it doesn’t hurt and its results are natural and long-lasting.

The dermatologist explains that he often sees avid runners who are “cadaverous-looking” and want to get back the volume in their face. “In the face, bone and fat are reabsorbed and there is sinking.” This is often referred to as “runner’s face,” with some recent studies suggesting the jostling of running exacerbates this occurrence. Under the eyes and the lower part of the face is especially vulnerable to fat loss, particularly for elite athletes. Fillers can restore volume while Ultherapy can tighten, contour, and lift the skin.

Of course, in some cases only surgery can get you the results you want such as a facelift, mini lift, eyelid lift, or brow lift.
