Author Omid Scobie Says He’s Had Ultherapy

For those across the pond, there have been plastic surgery rumors swirling about Endgame author and royal reporter Omid Scobie. The reason? According to fans, Scobie’s appearance has changed a lot over the years. He began his career in his early 20s as a reporter with Heat magazine and has become quite the source of gossip in recent years. Some have speculated that he’s had an eyebrow lift, nose job, skin whitening (eek), and of course fillers and Botox. However, it’s his recent “confession” that has us at RefinedMD intrigued. It turns out that, according to Scobie, he’s actually a fan of common minimally-invasive and non-invasive procedures—including Ultherapy.

In November 2023, Scobie sat down with The Times to set the record straight. He says that he had lied about his age in the past, which he regrets, but that Botox and Ultherapy are the only cosmetic procedures he has had. He went on to explain, “I work in an industry where I’m surrounded by people who are, let’s say, conservative with telling their age, particularly in television … I have not been under the knife, not done anything crazy.” While we don’t think plastic surgery is anything “crazy,” in our clinic we are committed to providing the best, safest, and most proven procedures on a wide range of aggressiveness levels. And when it comes to Ultherapy, it’s one of the best.

All About Ultherapy

Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to ensure energy is delivered directly to the targeted areas deep below the skin—without damaging the skin’s surface at all. It uses ultrasound imaging so that your provider can be certain they are hitting the right spot. Ultherapy is known as the facelift alternative and was originally designed to address the lower half of the face and the neck (the same as a facelift). However, you can use it anywhere on the face or body where you desire tightening. Results can last for several months, and you can always top up your Ultherapy when results begin to fade.

The best part about Ultherapy is that there is no anesthesia, needles, or downtime. Some people might look a bit pink after treatment, but that goes away within an hour or two. Many people notice no redness at all. In some cases, patients might experience temporary numbing at the treatment site, but this also subsides. Numbness is most common along the jawline where there is very little fat and muscle.

Is it Really a Facelift Alternative?

Honestly, no. Nothing can take the place of invasive surgeries like a facelift. However, Ultherapy has been shown to provide very impressive results and some younger patients (those in their 30s and 40s) might find that Ultherapy is an excellent tool to delay a facelift or mini lift for a few years. You can also combine Ultherapy with other treatments, including a facelift, to optimize and sustain your results. Using medical-grade skin care products as part of your home regimen is another way to make your results even better.

Ultherapy is not alone in offering non-invasive skin tightening. There is ThermageFLX, which is also available in our office. One is not better than the other. Both work via collagen induction therapy. However, some people simply prefer one over the other, and the only way to find out which is best for you is to schedule a consultation to go over your unique goals. In some cases, trying each one (spaced 1 – 2 years apart) is the best way to determine which skin-tightening procedure is best for you.

The Ultimate Difference

In most cases, you can get your Ultherapy treatment completed during your lunch hour. Just keep in mind that a numbing cream is applied for 45 minutes prior to treatment to increase comfort. Plan for at least two hours from start to finish (longer if you are treating larger areas like the abdomen). No downtime at all is necessary, and you can immediately get back to your day after Ultherapy treatment. Results are also not immediate, though many people notice a slight improvement right after the session. Since Ultherapy works by stimulating collagen production, you will start to see real results in about one month with full results 4 – 6 months later. It is a one and done procedure that lasts for months.
